Monday’s goal fest at the 2022 World Cup continued with Ghana’s 3-2 victory over South Korea in Al Rayyan as the Black Stars bridged a two-goal gap to take a massive win.
Mohammed Salisu and Mohammed Kudus scored first-half goals to give Ghana a 2-0 lead, but South Korea scored two at half-time thanks to K-League star Gae-Song Cho.

Kudus responded by completing his brace from an Inaki Williams pass to set up a last 20 minutes from the stands that didn’t score but didn’t disappoint the neutrals either.
Ghana are now in two games with five goals and will look to a difficult last day against Uruguay for a chance to secure a play-off spot. South Korea is left with one point and gets Portugal.

Ghana is capable of anything as South Korea’s hopes falter
Group H has looked brutal since the World Cup draw was completed and these teams have shown desperation after failing in their opening matches.
However, Ghana needed the win even more than South Korea as it was thwarted by Portugal and a smart penalty win from incumbent Cristiano Ronaldo in a 3-2 loss and their fire was on display from Moment #1.
However, in 180 minutes we learned that Ghana’s explosive attack was necessary because her defense could succeed or fail. South Korea outplayed the Black Stars 14–7 and had almost 60 percent possession of the ball as Heung-min Son and Ko failed to reach the end of the third cross to make it 3–3 (and there were plenty of chances).
The Ghana may find themselves in another game like this or on either side of a 3-0 game in this tournament, the Black Stars are still learning from each other at both ends of the field. One thing is for sure: there will be expected goals in all their matches.
Gue Sung Cho was a force for South Korea on the losing side and will give Taeguk
The Warriors are looking forward to meeting Portugal, a team that has already proven its punching ability. But is a Portugal game really necessary? We’ll find out later on Monday.

Key storylines, players to keep an eye on
Clearly, Heung Min Sung is the main player in South Korea and on the other side of the field they need Kim Min Jae to keep the defense together. It will be interesting to see if South Korea launches a few more of their playmakers in this clash as they look to take the game to Ghana. With Uruguay, they played very strongly for a draw in order to set themselves up for this game.
For Ghana, it will be very similar to how they played against Portugal, but they will look less open in counter-attacks on defense. They will sit back and counterattack, and the key to success is moving Mohammed Kudus forward. Both Ghana and South Korea will see this as a game they need to win to have a chance of finishing in the bottom 16, but Ghana could get a draw and then create a potential winner to take the whole game against Uruguay in the Group H final.
