Grant Hill, Georgia president Jere Morehead among voting members in NCAA’s updated Board of Governors

The NCAA unveiled its new, reduced Board of Governors on Wednesday following the adoption of the organization’s new constitution. called for The board was reduced from 21 members to nine. Georgetown President John DeJoya and Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner Beth DeBosch complete Division 1 representation on the board of directors, with former Duke and NBA star Grant Hill one of the body’s independents. In the NCAA hierarchy, the Board of Governors is ranked highest and votes on issues that affect all three divisions of the NCAA.

With “hiring and evaluating the NCAA president” among its functions, the Board of Governors is set to play a key role in determining a replacement for outgoing NCAA president Mark Emmert, whose term ends next June. This responsibility comes against the backdrop of a changing landscape for an organization that has come under fire for its failure to enact uniform legislation regarding name, image and likeness rules in collegiate sports.
