Chris Kirk won the Honda Classic and with it $1,512,000. It was the biggest payday of his career, which now includes five PGA Tour wins.
But it was also a big Sunday for the other players who didn’t take the trophy. Eric Cole, a 34-year-old Tour rookie, earned $915,600 in a loss to Kirk in the first hole of the playoffs. That’s $551,000 more than he’s earned in his previous 14 starts this season.
Tyler Duncan, who finished third in solo, received $579,600. This season ahead of Honda, he made only three of 12 cuts.
And then there was Ryan Gerard. Playing in his first regular on the PGA Tour, he earned over $400,000. Gerard, 23, earned himself a place in the tournament by qualifying on Monday. His only other tour experience was missed out on the 2022 US Open.
