When No. 10 LSU takes on No. 6 Alabama on Saturday, it will be a fight that will make a huge difference in determining who wins the SEC West title and enters the SEC Championship game next month. However, the annual meeting between the Tigers and the Crimson Tide means much more as it has become one of the biggest games on the college football schedule over the years, and this year’s meeting at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, State Louisiana, it won’t matter.
With a defeat already on the record thanks to Tennessee, Alabama enters the game with no room for error. This is the first of two important competitions within the Crimson Tide division; Alabama will play next week with another team in the West who lost by a single loss, Ole Miss. The Tide are 7-1 up and still have one of the best quarterbacks in the country, Bryce Young, but they look a little more vulnerable than usual this season, especially on the road. Not only did they lose to Tennessee in Knoxville, but they narrowly escaped defeat on the road against Texas.
Meanwhile, LSU is a team that has slipped under the radar a bit. He opened the season with a crazy 24-23 loss to Florida State, but played well for the next month until he lost 40-13 at home to Tennessee. Early mistakes doomed the Tigers that day, but they have since bounced back with resounding wins over Florida and Ole Miss, scoring 90 points in those two games.

Alabama vs. LSU: Need to Know
For the tenth time both teams have entered the top 10 in the last 15 meetings: The fact that this is a top 10 matchup shouldn’t come as a surprise; usually it happens when these two play. Although LSU has not made it to either of the last two meetings, both teams have been in the top 10 of their games far more often. In fact, they have been ranked in the top five in the AP Top 25 poll six times in the last 15 meetings. It’s a game that not only decides who wins the SEC West, but often the national title as well.
In 2022, offenses had similar outcomes: This may come as a surprise to those who haven’t paid close attention to these teams all season, but it’s true. Alabama ranks 12th in the nation in points per trip with a score of 3.17, while LSU is 17th with a score of 3.01. Alabama ranks 13th in expected added points (EPA) per game, while LSU is 16th. LSU was better than Alabama in descending order, ranking ninth in the nation with a 49.9% success rate, and Alabama 18th with 47.2%. The most significant difference is that Alabama was much more explosive, which helps make up for the lack of success. At 16.9%, Alabama’s explosive play is seventh in the nation, while LSU’s at 12.7% is only 63rd.
Jayden Daniels is one of the most fired QBs in the country: If LSU wants to walk away with a win and take control of the SEC West, Daniels will have to work harder to make quicker decisions and get the ball in the passing game. Leading up to the weekend, the LSU offense ranks 33rd in the nation for the level of pressure allowed for only 26.7% of retreats. 2.6 seconds before pressure builds up ranks 31st. Despite this, LSU ranks 116th in the nation for the number of bags allowed (26) and 108th for the number of bags allowed (8.6%). This is because Daniels spends too much time in his pocket, waiting for the perfect moment, not the best moment available. The bad way is to go against the Alabama defense, which has Will Anderson.
Alabama vs LSU prediction, election
LSU is one of the top 10 teams in the college football playoffs, but to be honest, I don’t think LSU is in the top 10 teams in the country. Alabama have their faults and are not the juggernaut dynamo we are used to seeing, but overall they are the best team in this game. But is it better than LSU to win by two touchdowns? I’m not so sure about this. The home atmosphere in Baton Rouge is going to be tough for Bryce Young and the Alabama offense to struggle and I think Tide is struggling a bit and is having a hard time coming off. I take points. Prediction: LSU +13
