MILWAUKEE — An emaciated Cincinnati Reds pitcher took another hit Friday as rookie right-hander Hunter Green was placed on the injured list for 15 days with a sprained right shoulder.
Green, who turns 23 on Saturday, seemed to be a turning point in his young career over the past month, posting a 2.70 ERA over his last four starts with 29 strikeouts and eight walks in 23 1/3 innings.
He last hit a gem holding the Marlins in just one hit, scoring eight points without passing any of six scoreless innings.
When the injury occurred or its severity, the Reds have yet to announce, who made the move shortly before the opening of a three-game series against the NL Central’s top brewers in Milwaukee.
Right reliever Ryan Hendricks was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to take Green’s place on the active roster.
