Robbie Lawler will not fight this Saturday.
MMA Fighting has confirmed to officials that an undisclosed injury forced Lawler to pull out of a welterweight bout with Santiago Ponzinibbio, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday as part of the main card of UFC 282 in Las Vegas. The change was first announced ESPN.
Lawler was due to appear for the second time in 2022. Last July at UFC 276, the former welterweight champion was defeated by Brian Barberena via TKO in the second round. It was Lawler’s fifth loss in six matches, his only victory in that stretch being a TKO over Nick Diaz at UFC 266.
Looking for an enemy with short notice to keep Ponzinibbio on the map.
Ponzinibbio is currently on a two-game losing streak with just one win in their last four matches. In his only fight in 2022, the Argentine standout lost a split decision to Michel Pereira at UFC Vegas 55 in May.
