Justin Taylor from Nazareth Academy in Illinois is an under the radar prospect that Wisconsin seems to constantly find year in and year out to add to the fold. This 2-sport athlete who also participated in track and field had a productive junior season playing multiple positions for his team. He posted some nice stats with 226 yards rushing on 33 carries over 800 yards receiving on 47 catches with 13 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball where the Badgers see his future as a safety he had 15 tackles and 5 pbu’s in limited action.
Muscled up frame and build where he has good length to compensate for him not having elite height. He has a well proportioned body type to add the necessary weight to be able to compete on the next level. Taylor is a fluid player that’s able to do a nice job changing directions along with being patient with his pedal and staying balanced when covering receivers. As he is coached up and developed in the nuances of the safety position, as well as skill development you should see a steady increase in his overall ability and talent to reach his full potential. This football instincts that he schools on film speak to his ability to be engaged at a level where he is able to be productive all over the field. He is the type of prospect that has been recruited and had success throughout the years in Madison. I’m encouraged to see what the finished product will look like within Jim Leonard’s defense.
