Is golf still thriving? Have more people started playing after the game has been spread by COVID-19 for many years? How is the weather? All current questions as the golf industry tries to keep up the furious rally in the annual rounds played in 2020 and 21.

Latest News: Golf Datatech and the National Golf Foundation. reported this week that rounds played in June were up 2.7 percent compared to the same month in 2021. But this gain followed a monthly decline in four of the previous five months. According to industry monitoring Golf Datatech, 2022 is 5.7% behind 2021 in rounds played.

Weather plays a significant role, making it difficult for industry trackers to determine if the decline in rounds played is due to golfers who flocked to the courses during the worst of the COVID pandemic now finding other activities as health restrictions almost completely weakened.

Industry Analyst Pelusid Corp. tracks days across the country on which weather conditions are favorable for golfing and reports a 9 percent drop in golf hours across the country in 2022. until spring in many areas, followed by incredible heatwaves and storms for much of the summer.

All this comes after one of the most dramatic increases in the number of rounds played in history. The total number of rounds played in 2020 is up 13.9 percent from 2019 as the pandemic shut down many alternative entertainment and exercise options. Rounds played increased again in 2021, up 5.5 percent as golf continued in popularity.
