LHamilton’s discreet season is not leaving anyone indifferent. Jackie Stewart, Formula 1 legend and triple championnow admits that he considers that it is a good time for the Mercedes man to retire.
“It’s time,” he assumes after Lewis’s teammate, George Russell, has finished in the top five in all nine rounds of this World Cup.
“I am sure he will be very successful because he has been making a lot of moneyrightly so because it has been the best of its time,” says Stewart in statements collected by GPFans.
“Lewis is in that group of the Ayrton Sennas and the Alain Prosts… or maybe even the Jackie Stewarts,” the 83-year-old adds. “It’s a shame that I won’t quit at the topbut I don’t think that’s going to happen now,” he insists.
“Now he is struggling a bit because he has a new teammate who has been quicker than him in qualifying so far, which will be difficult for you to handle“He explains about his rivalry with Russell. He knows that Lewis has nothing more to prove, so he thinks it’s a good time for him to say goodbye.
With 77 points in the World Cup, Hamilton remains in the sixth position of drivers in this 2022. All this after last year was about to extend his legend. But the last lap snatched the long-awaited title for him, which fell into the hands of Verstappen.
