Jaguars claim former Rams running back Darrell Henderson off waivers, per report

Darrell Henderson Jr has a new home. After the Los Angeles Rams decided to cut the bait as the veteran runs back and waives him Tuesday, Henderson has since been claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to NFL media.

Henderson is now joining defensemen led by second-year quarterback Travis Etienne and will likely serve as a complement to the former first-round pick. Jacksonville brought fellow James Robinson back to the New York Jets shortly before the NFL trade deadline, causing his backfield depth to decrease slightly, despite Etienne thriving as a primary defensive end.

Henderson spent the first three-plus seasons of his career with the Rams after the team selected him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. However, in recent times, the 25-year-old began to fall out of rotation in the background, eventually leading to his demise in Los Angeles. In last week’s loss to the Saints just before being turned down, Henderson only played 6% of offensive snaps and had two touches that turned into 9 yards. This is much less than Kyren Williams (55%) and Cam Akers (39%).

While Robinson likely won’t return to starting status in Jacksonville, it’s a good landing spot for him as he could possibly still get double-digit touches on a weekly basis after Etienne. During his career, Robinson has 28 starts in 50 regular season games and has 2,216 yards since the start of the play and 17 touchdowns in that stretch.

In 10 games played this season (seven starts), Henderson averaged 4 yards per carry and had 385 yards from scrimmage.
