Jill Ellis voted to US Soccer Hall of Fame, won 2 World Cups

FRISCO, TX (AP) Jill Ellis was inducted into the US Football Hall of Fame after coaching the Americans at the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.

The 56-year-old British-born coach was selected on 20 of 24 ballots in a Builders vote that included only coach candidates for the 2023 class.

Clive Charles, former coach of the U23 and U20 teams, team assistant and coach of the University of Portland men’s and women’s teams, came in second with 12 votes and missed Wednesday’s total.

Former LA Galaxy and San Jose American coach Lothar Osiander finished third with three votes, and former LA Galaxy, San Jose and Chicago coach Frank Yallop came last with no not a single vote.

Ellis, FIFA Women’s Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2019, is President of the San Diego Wave Women’s National Football League.

She will be inducted next year along with DaMarcus Beasley, Landon Donovan and Lauren Cheney Holiday.
