Playing throughout a massive season on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, Brown knew immediately what it took to be successful as soon as he entered his new high school.
“I really liked it because of the way coaches are trained,” Brown said. “We are playing right. Going from playing at 17 only reminded me that I have to compete with all my might every day. I play against high level players.”
In terms of recruiting, Brown recently made his first informal visit to Texas A&M. He says his first impression of what the best College Station campus has to offer was comfortable.
“The visit was wonderful,” Brown said. “I liked the amenities. Buzz Williams and his staff made the school feel like home and I didn’t feel like they were pressuring. Everything was organic with them.”
A&M is one of 14 programs already offered. Brown speaks from all his options Florida, Gonzaga, Indianaas well as Texas There are several schools that communicate frequently. However, Brown says he’s more focused on his game on the court than what’s going on off the court.
“I really just go out and play ring, but if I see the coaches in the gym, I’ll talk to them,” Brown said. “I appreciate every coach who comes to see me play. This is a real blessing.”
Brown says that now that he’s tried the visiting process for the first time, he’ll be keeping a close eye on the coaches’ playing style to find a program that will allow him to always be himself on the floor.
“I’m looking for a school that allows me to play sports and be who I am,” Brown said. “I want to play the game right. I need a great coaching staff that will inspire me to be like that.”
