Masvidal took on MMA Fighting in Savannah, Georgia ahead of his iKON FC 4 event on Friday, which takes place at the Savannah Convention Center and streams on UFC Fight Pass. Asked if he was impressed with Chimaev after defeating Burns, Gamebred thinks the 28-year-old still has a lot of work to do.

“It was supposed to be his weekend party and it didn’t go according to plan,” Masvidal told MMA Fighting. “A lot of people thought Gilbert won that fight – a lot of people still think Gilbert won that fight.

“I really don’t think Khamzat is as good as they say he is. I see more than I believe [guy] and I haven’t seen anything yet that makes me believe in this guy. I personally would like to smash his face. Once he starts selling pay-per-views and all that stuff, I don’t mind punching his fucking face.”

As expected, Chimaev is a big favorite ahead of Diaz heading to UFC 279. While most consider the Stockton native to be out, Masvidal, who shared the Octagon with Diaz in the first BMF title fight at UFC 244 in November 2019, is not. . recounting his former opponent, especially if the case drags on.

“They probably wanted to pair Diaz with someone, stylistically it’s not the best when I think of fucking Khamzat,” Masvidal told MMA Fighting. “So they gave him a boring wrestler who will try to hug his legs and smell his crotch.

“I think Hamzat will probably win, but I see Nate knock him out in the fourth or fifth round because Hamzat doesn’t have that gas tank. He doesn’t have that kind of experience, and I think he also gets it the moment he wastes energy on all sorts of nonsense. Nate will save all that energy and punch him in the face when needed. I think Hamzat should win but I wouldn’t be surprised if Nate stops his ass.”
