Justin Timberlake’s name was named the title sponsor of the PGA Tour’s Las Vegas stop. He is also regularly involved in professional celebrity circles.
Now the musician and actor has become an investor in a par-3 golf course. thestate.com.
Timberlake is associated with 8AM Golf, which is part of the Nicklaus companies. 8AM recently acquired a 35 percent stake in 3’s Greenville Golf in Greenville, South Carolina.
The course, originally called Crosswinds, is owned by Davis Sezna, who bought the 30-year-old course four years ago. The name better fits the par-3 layout, but also the theme of golf, food, drink and entertainment. Senza told thestate.com that 60 percent of the business will not be golf-related, but menu-based, golf-related entertainment.
3’s was built as an 18-hole course but now has 12 in addition to a 6 ½-acre short games course, a hitting and hitting course, and a children’s course.
“I’m very excited about Concept 3,” Timberlake said in a press release. “Making golf more accessible, less intimidating and more fun is my passion, and that’s exactly what 3’s achieves with its 12-hole par-3 layout and laid-back ‘Welcome All’ atmosphere.
The Shack has been refurbished to improve food and drink service and will feature what Sezna claims is the biggest ice machine in golf. The hall will have seating for dining inside and outside. Plans call for closing at 11:00 pm, including golf lessons.
Sezna is considering expanding the concept to other markets, including Nashville, Scottsdale and Vegas.
