Kiper’s updated NFL mock draft: Who’s moving up for a QB? Three trades in a chaotic top five

It’s time for a new set of first-round picks for the 2023 NFL Draft. My first trial draft, back in January, was before the last four picks had been decided – it’s a total order of 1-31 here. He also has three trades in the top five peaks, including with the number 1 bears who must weigh whether to stay put and get their choice of any prospect or move down.

Two months after the draft, this layout is about pairing 2023 prospects with NFL teams based on a combination of my ratings – I have a new big board with updates on every position – along with the needs before free agency and what I’m hearing from people in league I trust. The free agency negotiation period begins on Monday, March 13, and teams will fill holes in the open market, which means we’ll learn a lot more about true draft is needed soon. Just because a team is adding a veteran quarterback in the next few weeks doesn’t mean the team won’t be targeting a first-round passer.

The NFL Unification kicks off this week, and on Thursday we’ll have a big kick-off for beginners to keep an eye on and those who can break records. However, as I mentioned earlier, what happens off the field at the mill is just as important. This is where coaches and front office leaders can really get to know the players.

As a reminder, there will only be 31 picks this year because the Dolphins were stripped of their first round for rigging violations. Watch SportsCenter Special: Mel Kiper’s Mock Draft 2.0 at 5:00 pm ET Tuesday on Sportzshala2 and you can see me explain in detail how I think about each pick. So, let’s get down to business:
