it’s just cool to be able to get back there,” Allen said via Patrick Creighton of Gallerysports.com. “In the NFL, you have opportunities. There are always opportunities. However, you must continue to use them. I feel like I did a really good job taking advantage of opportunities when they were presented to me. I am always very grateful for these opportunities because you don’t know when they will end.”

After splitting first-team reps with Mills earlier in the week, Allen learned that on Friday he would start on Sunday. He previously started 7-10 with the Panthers and Commanders as a starter, and Allen has 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his career.

“Every week I try to tune in to what I’m going to play,” Allen said. “[Even if] I know I’m not starting, I might have to play at any moment. This has always been the direction of my career. I have been an underwriter for most of my career. However, I also played a lot. When I’m acting as a backup, in my brain I have to be ready to play.”
