Jimmy Garoppolo conundrum with San Francisco it seems like it could be a lot more embarrassing than it is right now.

Garoppolo has been cleared to practice, but he is not doing so while the 49ers are waiting for a suitable trade offer, which may or may not come before the start of the regular season. Instead, Garoppolo worked faithfully on the side as the team moved forward with last year’s overall number 3. Trey Lance like QB1.

On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan said there was no real embarrassment despite Garoppolo being close to fans during open practice.

“We have really good relationship with jimmy“, Shanahan said at his press conference. “There is no secret about how things are. I think he fully understands the situation. We completely understand the situation. So we make the best of it. Jimmy is there. He feels everything better and better every day. I still see him. We have a very good relationship with Jimmy. He has done very good things here. So the fans are passionate about him and our players still love to see him, that doesn’t surprise me at all.”

Shanahan also noted that Garoppolo and the team had mutually agreed that it was best for Garoppolo to work on the side of the arrangement.

“We did it in the best possible way for both of us,” Shanahan said. “I mean, if Jimmy wanted to be in every meeting and wanted to do everything, we would certainly let him. I guess that’s not what he would like at all. And when we asked him, that was for sure – he didn’t really want that. So he’s just trying to prepare his body for the next situation he’s in.”

With the exception of QB’s serious injury, it is currently unclear which team will offer Garoppolo. There weren’t many reports of interest during the off-season, if any. Obviously there is time to change things before the rosters are reduced to 53 at the end of the month. But for now, the waiting pattern in the Bay Area remains.
