Kyler Murray likely to return for Cardinals after hamstring injury: ‘I feel good’

Kyler Murray expects to be back on the field Sunday afternoon.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback, who has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, said he could play Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Yeah, yeah,” Murray said when asked if he thought he could play. via ESPN. “I feel myself good.”

He said he’s feeling good ahead of Monday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but he just didn’t have the reps he needed to play.

Murray first suffered a hamstring injury against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8 and corrected it again a week later. He then missed their victory over the Los Angeles Rams and Monday’s game against the 49ers.

Reserve Colt McCoy took Murray’s place. He threw for 456 yards, one touchdown and one interception in those two games, and went 1-1.

Murray has thrown for 2,168 yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions this season, his fourth most with the Cardinals. The team lost three of their last four games in the run-up to Sunday afternoon, as did the Chargers.

Cardinals coach Cliff Kingsbury hasn’t confirmed any plans for Sunday’s game in Los Angeles, but he was impressed with Murray in practice on Wednesday. If he can’t go, McCoy has to start again.

“I don’t doubt my chances,” Kingsbury said of Murray’s return. via ESPN. “I think if we didn’t let him, we might have a fight in my office at this point, so I feel like he’s definitely moving in the right direction.”
