The Triple Logoman card auction ended on Saturday. Officials from the Goldin Collectibles Market, which held the auction, suggested earlier this month that the card could be sold for the highest price ever.

It didn’t come close. The record still stands at $6.6 million spent on a Honus Wagner trading card last year.

This particular James card was part of the Panini 2020-21 Flawless collection and features the NBA logo patch from three of his jerseys, one from each of his games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. .

Panini created only five Triple Logoman cards. James was the only one to feature three single player patches.

$2.4 million is not even a record for a postcard featuring James. Last year, a postcard from his debut season sold for $5.2 million.

James is second on the NBA career top scorers list and one step ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the top spot next season.
