Brighton & Hove Albion are looking to beat the desperate Leeds United and the Seagulls are looking to maintain their amazing European pace during Saturday’s Elland Road clash.

Brighton come out on Saturday in eighth place in the Premier League table but seventh in points per game, and the next four Seagulls rivals are just as enticing as you…aside from desperation.

The Seagulls visit Leeds and then host Crystal Palace. After meeting Grimsby Town in the FA Cup quarter-finals and having fun with the tricky Brentford before leaving for Bournemouth. Things get violent after that, so it’s safe to say that by April 4th on Vitality, we’ll know if Brighton’s plans for the top seven are going well.

Meanwhile, Leeds struggled to show what it could be after Jesse Marsh’s departure from Elland Road.

Leeds drew with Manchester United at Old Trafford but then lost to the same opponents at Elland Road. A disappointing away loss to Everton was followed by the appointment of Javi Gracia and a victory over Saints, with Leeds looking defiant but weak after losing to Chelsea last time.

Now Leeds are getting a dangerous Brighton ahead of trips to Wolverhampton and Arsenal. Liverpool, Man City, Spurs and Newcastle are also on the list for the remainder of the journey and points will be in value.

Here’s everything you need to know before Leeds vs Brighton.

Key storylines and star players

Leeds - Brighton liveLeeds’ problems under the Grazia may turn out to be the same as under the Marches; The relegation fighters have scored one goal in their last four games and lost five times in seven matches since February.

Take a look at the list on the right, which details the ball possession in the opposition’s third game of the season. This is a collection of absolutely monstrous talent… and Leeds (no offense). Leeds didn’t convert the moment almost comically, especially when Rodrigo was out of the game (as it is now). Patrick Bamford has one goal but his xG 5.56 shows he is on the right track. Of course, he could join Rodrigo on the sidelines this weekend, so Leeds will be hoping for more from the bright spots of Crisensio Summerville, Jack Harrison and Wilfrid Gnonto.

As for Brighton, Not plays well for the Seagulls? Roberto De Zerbi watched Leandro Trossard go to Arsenal and essentially yawned and pointed to the men who would fill the gap. Pascal Gross is on top, Kaoru Mitoma’s shots were incredible, Solly March looks like the second coming of Theo Hernandez, and Alexis Mac Allister paired with Moises Caicedo gives the Seagulls a ridiculously strong midfield.

It says something about Everton and their plight that “home of the long undefeated Brentford” is almost certain to win thanks to a brutal series of matches for the Toffees.

Everton start the weekend 18th in the Premier League table with 22 points, having played one game more than any other team in the relegation battle. After Saturday’s visit from Brentford, the Toffees travel to Chelsea, host Tottenham and visit Manchester United.

Brentford, meanwhile, is on an absolute heat wave. The Bees haven’t lost in the Premier League since (calendar page flip) (another calendar page flip) (wait, gotta get calendar for 2022) (and turn two more pages). October 23 at Aston Villa.

Thomas Frank’s bees have had a significant number of draws in this mix, but 12 consecutive PL games with a point or three just don’t materialize often for most teams.

Key storylines and star players

Everton finally scored multiple times in the same game last week, with Demarai Gray converting a penalty and Abdoulaye Dukour scoring the classic Sean Dyche goal in a 2-2 win over Nottingham Forest. Now the Toffees need to do better on the other end as Jordan Pickford and his defensemen have conceded six goals in two games. James Tarkowski and Michael Keene, Dyche’s two allies, were paired up behind them, but perhaps it’s time for Conor Cody?

The Bees’ strong defense has dwindled a little in recent weeks, with Brentford having not kept a clean sheet since 4 February at home to Southampton. Expect David Rye’s stellar support to help fix this soon.

Tottenham Hotspur will host Nottingham Forest on Saturday and all eyes will be on Antonio Conte’s future after their dismal mid-week UEFA Champions League exit.

Spurs have drawn 0-0 after a poor home game against Milan in their last 16 second legs, losing 1-0 on aggregate and being knocked out of the Champions League. Now with only a top four to play this season, the Spurs are currently in fourth place but have failed to score in any of their last three games in all competitions and look utterly lacking in confidence and energy. Conte’s contract expires this summer and everything points to a new player arriving at Tottenham very soon.

Nottingham Forest bounced back twice to draw at home to Everton last time but have failed to win any of their last four matches and are relegated once again. Steve Cooper has still done an amazing job to get them four points above the reset zone at this point in the season and Forest certainly has a lot of dangerous hitters who can hurt Spurs on the counterattack.
