The Giants will need to survive the loss of a key defenseman if they are going to open the season with two wins in a row.
Linebacker Leonard Williams injured his knee during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Panthers and was ruled out by the team soon after. A quick decision to eliminate Williams could indicate a serious injury, but further updates will have to wait until after the game.
Before leaving the game on Sunday, Williams made two tackles. He had five tackles in the first week of the Giants’ victory over the Titans. Giants are missing too. Kaivon Thibodeau as well as Aziz Ojulari in the front seven on Sunday.
The Giants and Panthers are tied 13–13 with less than five minutes left in the third quarter.
