Grant started the day with a two-stroke lead and hit five of her first six holes, demonstrating the blazing ball-handling and calm temperament she displayed all week in southern Sweden.

She first took a nine-shot lead after hitting a par 5 birdie on the 11th hole, and hit a total of eight birdies, ending a haunted weekend and a week of her golfing life.

This is the second leg of the tournament, which began with 78 men and 78 women on the field, playing on the same field, albeit from different tees, for one prize pool and one trophy.

Grant’s grandfather, James, was a Scottish golf professional who emigrated from Inverness in the north of Scotland to Helsingborg in Sweden. Her father, John, also participated in the Swedish Golf Tour and scored seven victories on the Swedish Senior Tour.

Grant turned pro last year and won the Women’s European Tour in March and May, marking her as a rising star. In an interview on the track in the top nine, Grant said those two victories behind her made her feel at ease ahead of the biggest round of her life.

Her boyfriend, Pontus, was her caddy this week, and her mother was on the field and among those who cheered Grant on every field on the day the weather changed.

The great Swedish athlete Henrik Stenson, who led the event with compatriot Annika Sorenstam, threw 70 shots and tied for second place with Mark Warren (65).
