The Detroit Lions have a new defensive quality coach. The Lions hired former Raiders and Chargers assistant Addison Lynch this week.

Lynch received a good reception from defenders. After DB coach Aubrey Pleasant announced them in the positional meeting room, the players took it upon themselves to show Lynch what they were.

That means ups and downs, 40 of them. Everyone does them, from head coach Dan Campbell to practice team contenders. Coaches are not immune, and Lynch got out of the way early. As Campbell explained before Friday practice,

“I saw the beginning of it and then I started walking – I thought he did pretty well. I’ll say it about him, so DB was there and they were – he was announced in the DB room the night before and (Nice) AP kind of announced him and that’s why they’re all like, ’40 of them stuff, man, 40 and he just walks in the door on the right and that’s why he’s like, “What are you guys talking about?” So he finally figured it out and said, “I’ll make them right here.” He was about to play them on the carpet in the conference room and (Lions defense coordinator Aaron Glenn) AG said, “Oh wait. We will deal with them in…. So, he was great, man. It’s good that we have it, it will be useful to us.”

Lynch completed reps and then vomited into a nearby trash can, which made Campbell smirk devilishly. Welcome to Detroit, Addison Lynch!
