If Michigan football wants to keep up with its southern rival, it will have to continue to attract big names, especially five-star talent.

Ohio State has made headlines over the past two days when it received verbal commitments from two five-star wide receivers, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss. But the Wolverines are actively recruiting talented players and are looking to make the same impact in the 2023 cycle.

On June 24, Corn and Blue will host Miami (FL) Gulliver Prep, five-star Jalen Brown, who is also seriously considering schools like Miami and LSU. But during a midweek visit to Ann Arbor, DeSoto, Texas, five-star wide receiver Jonthy Cook II seems to be enjoying his visit.

Michigan was in Cook’s top five, along with Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, and Jackson State.

If DeSoto High School sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the school where Wolverine’s defensive twins Haemon and Herman Green were born.

Corn and blue also pair with Baton Rouge (LA) Catholic quarterback Shelton Sampson Jr., who is also a five-star prospect.
