LSU-South Carolina women’s basketball game was the most-watched regular season contest since 2010
Despite being hours away from Super Bowl LVII, the biggest women’s college basketball game of the 2022-2023 season drew huge crowds.
With an average audience of 1.5 million viewers (and a peak of 1.6 million), Sunday’s battle between undefeated teams LSU and South Carolina was the most watched regular season women’s college basketball game since 2010. A game between South Carolina and the University of California broke that record. the previous week, but the Tigers’ contest against the Gamecocks surpassed that.
And this despite the fact that the game was not particularly close, especially in the stretch. South Carolina won comfortably 88-64but LSU dropped only two places from 3rd to 5th after losing on the road to the defending national champions.
We could be ready for a rematch between the two at the SEC Tournament and that game would certainly draw quite a large audience as well.
