Manchester City, just hours away from their comeback victory over Aston Villa, apologized to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen on Sunday for “attacked” when the fans invaded the field.
Manchester City would like to offer a sincere apology to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who was attacked after the final whistle in tonight’s match as fans took to the pitch.
Video of the incident shows Olsen walking off the pitch and being attacked as Manchester City fans stormed the pitch to celebrate their victory. Details of what happened to Olsen were not released, but the video shows at least two fans approached him and interacted with him in some way. Olsen then had to cover his face as two stadium officials kicked him off the field. An orange-clad stadium official was also hit by a fan.
Manchester City also announced that they would investigate the incident.
The club launched an immediate investigation, and after identifying the culprit, a stadium ban will be issued for an indefinite period.
