Beware of an injured golfer.
Before taking a 54-hole lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship on Saturday, Mark Hubbard was not well-prepared for the Country Club of Jackson. He treated a leg injury, but not any injury.
“My daughter made me sick and then accidentally knocked a kitchen knife off the counter and hit me in the leg,” Hubbard said, “so I had a hole in my leg all week and I couldn’t work out.” actually last week, so I just came here trying to get ready for Vegas, to be honest. I think it probably has a lot to do with low expectations.”
After the 7-under-65s put him one shot ahead in Sunday’s final round, Hubbard certainly outperformed a week early.

But there was still some modesty in his words.
Although he has gone 163 starts without a win on the PGA Tour and nearly dropped out of the top 300 in the world rankings, Hubbard has had a pair of top 4s on the Tour since July.
“That being said,” Hubbard continued, “I have felt incredible in my game for the last six to seven months, so I just try to stick with it and keep those expectations low and just try to make good golf shots. ”
