Chandler Jones“Leaving the Raiders as a free agent led to much discussion about the Cardinals’ plans for the 2022 season, but that doesn’t mean the closet was empty the moment he left town.

After all, the Cardinals have the best sacker from last season. Marcus GoldenAt 11 sacks, he’s half a sack more than Jones hit after starting with five sacks last season, and Golden has been a solid sack for several years now.

This could explain why Golden doesn’t look at him differently, even though others believe he has risen to number one on the passing team.

“Even when Chandler was here, I was my #1 guy,” Golden said via the team’s website. “That’s why I can perform at a high level no matter who I play with. I respect him and learned a lot from Chandler. I can seriously say that he helped me become the player I am today. But whether I’m playing with Chandler or anyone else, I feel like number one. gotta have that mindset“.

The Cardinals will be happy if Golden lives up to this bill because the rest of their pass rush group has a lot of potential and lacks established production at the professional level. Golden’s continued success will give the rest of the band time to level up as the year progresses.
