The Colts didn’t perform well in their first two games of the season, especially on offense.
There were moments in the Week 3 game against Kansas City when things didn’t go well for Indianapolis either. But in the end, with a little help from the mysterious Chris Jones Penalty for Unsportsmanlike Conduct – Quarterback Matt Ryan was able to execute a winning game to give the Colts their first victory.
On Wednesday, Ryan said last Sunday’s result is a building block as the team prepares for a divisional challenger in week four.
“I think knowing you’re up against a great football team like we played last week builds confidence,” Ryan said at his press conference. “We had two stages of our team that played outstandingly – the special teams and the defense sort of kept us there. Then, knowing that we have young players who play in the most critical situations, I think this is a big springboard for us.
“We have to keep progressing and keep getting better, but there has to be faith because, as I said, there are glimpses that we are doing it right and of course these late game games are a lot of confidence building for us. guys.”
Ryan hit a rookie tight end Jelani Woods for a 12-yard touchdown with 24 seconds left in the game, completing a 16-game 76-yard drive that took 8:14 of the time.
The Colts will play the Titans on Sunday.
