Michigan State vs. Kentucky: Stream, broadcast info, three things to watch, prediction

On Tuesday, Michigan State Basketball will take on Kentucky in a neutral out-of-conference game, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Spartans enter this Champions Classic matchup to bounce back from a one-point loss to Gonzaga last week. Michigan State squandered a double-digit lead in the closing minutes and fell to 1-1 on the season with a loss.

Kentucky is a perfect 2-0 this year with resounding wins over Howard and Duquesne to open the season last week. This game against the Spartans in Indianapolis will be the Wildcats’ first real test of the year.

Three things to see

Here are three things to watch out for in this game between Michigan and Kentucky:

Madi’s performance for an encore: Michigan State got a breakout game from center Mady Sissoko in a narrow loss to Gonzaga on Friday, when Sissoko scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He will need to put in a similar performance against Kentucky in Michigan to earn the win.

Hauser back to normal?: While Sissoko was impressive for the Spartans on Friday, Houser was not. He had a tough game, 0-5 from the field and a foul in progress. He’s too important a player for the Spartans to have such a lousy game, and Michigan State beats elite teams like Kentucky.

Spartan mindset: Michigan State suffered an extremely hard defeat last week, so this will be a good first mental test for the team this year. How do they react to the fact that they lost leadership, fighting with the same strong opponent? That’s a great question, and we should have an answer to it early in the game on Tuesday.

Game Prediction

Forecast: MSU – 74, Kentucky – 72

Michigan State put on an impressive performance last week against Gonzaga and did really everything we could want other than finish the game. Kentucky is yet to be tested this year and I’m going to bet on the lessons learned by the Spartans last week that will impact this close Champions Classic battle.
