Marina Rodriguez dropped the ball as she finally came close to a title shot when she lost to Amanda Lemos on Saturday at UFC fight at night 214 headliner.

After a four-fight winning streak and winning the title, Rodriguez (17-2-2 MMA, 6-2-2 UFC) was defeated. TKO loss in the third round Amanda Lemos (13-2-1 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, which took her away from her goal of fighting for UFC gold.

While Rodriguez is clearly one of the best featherweights in the world, the 35-year-old may have missed her best shot a week before the UFC 281 title fight between Carla Esparza and Rose Namajunas. Instead, she is forced to return to the drawing board.
