The Giants are interested in bringing in free agent Kenley Jansen. reports MLB.com. Manager Gabe Kapler and President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi are familiar with Jansen from his years with the Dodgers, an NL West rival. San Francisco has plenty of money to spend this offseason, and at 35, Jansen won’t need a long-term contract.

Our RJ Anderson named Jansen the #19 free agent available this offseason.. Given that Edwin Diaz, Rafael Montero and Robert Suarez have already signed with their previous teams, Jansen is the best unsigned pitcher. The Giants have big needs in other parts of the roster (they really need a powerful hitter, if not two), but in the off-season they have enough free space on the payroll to fill these needs and splurge on a big dealer like Jansen.

Padres meets Senga

On Thursday, the Padres faced Japanese right-hander Kodai Senga. according to Athletic. Senga is in high demand, and San Diego may have an advantage because Senga is close friends with Yu Darvish and has also played with Padres right-handers Robert Suarez and Nick Martinez for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in the past. At least the Padres are offered familiar faces.

Senga, January 30, met with the Mets earlier this week. In 2022, he pitched in 148 with a 1.48 ERA and 159 strikeouts and is generally regarded as the best starting pitcher in Japan. Our RJ Anderson named Senga the 23rd free agent available in the offseason.. Here’s everything you need to know about right-handerswhich usually hits 100 mph and gets a forkball.

To replace shortstop Kyle Farmer, the Reds acquired Kevin Newman from the NL rival Central Pirates. the team announced on Friday. Minor league Pittsburgh Dauri Moreta went in a trade for Pittsburgh. Cincinnati traded Farmer to the Twins on Friday and brought in Newman as a temporary sidekick until top prospects Ellie De La Cruz and Noelvie Marte arrived.

Newman, 29, is an extreme hitter who has hit just 10.4 percent of games at home over the past two years, the third best in baseball. However, all these contacts did not lead to a large production. Newman’s .615 OPS is third in baseball over the past two seasons. It’s a temporary measure and nothing more for a Reds team that is rebuilding, though the owners and front office seem reluctant to admit it publicly.
