The era of Jackie Bradley Jr. in Boston is over—this time, most likely forever.

The Boston Red Sox outfielder got the job. Julian McWilliams of the Boston Globe said Thursday. That means Bradley is off the 40-man roster and the Red Sox have seven days to trade the 32-year-old or put him on an irrevocable waiver.

Bradley spent nine of his 10 major league seasons in Boston, joining the Brewers for the 2021 campaign before the Red Sox acquired him again in the off-season in a trade that sent Hunter Renfro to Milwaukee. Bradley was named to the Boston All-Star Team in 2016 and played a pivotal role in the 2018 Red Sox World Series title, earning the 2018 American League Championship MVP honors.

Tomase: Red Sox in terrible no man’s land after boring trade deadline

While Bradley is a great fielder, he continues to struggle for the plate and hit just .210 with three home runs and 29 RBIs in 91 games with the Red Sox this season.

After breaking off relations with Bradley, the Red Sox will move forward with Alex Verdugo, Jarren Duran and Tommy Pham acquiring a trade deadline. Quique Hernandez can also give momentum to the outfield. when he returns from the wounded list but doesn’t seem close to returning.
