However, make no mistake, Usman says that his brother’s name and success has not provided him with any undeserved opportunities or an easier path than the rest of the fighters. Usman has Titan FC and PFL experience and is now in the TUF 30 heavyweight final against Zach Paugi (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) on Saturday at UFC on ESPN 40 .

“I had to work hard to get here,” Usman said. “A fight is a fight. It’s not “Oh, Kamaru is your brother. Now let’s just push you in here. You are in the finale of Ultimate Fighter. , you don’t have to fight those two heavy monsters that weigh 265 pounds to be here. We’ll just put you in here because your brother is Kamaru Usman.”

“It’s a lie. Everything about wrestling is you. That’s why I love it so much because no matter how much people talk about my brother I love him because I’m still the one who has to go out and compete and has to fight and has to win so you guys even be here and talk shit to me and tell me about my brother. If I don’t win, I won’t even stand up and look at you guys.”

UFC on ESPN 40 takes place on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The map airs on ESPN and airs on ESPN+.
