School season 2022-2023 is coming to an end, which means that we are waiting for the rewards! On Thursday afternoon, the 2023 Naismith Player of the Year and Jersey Mike Coach of the Year finalists were announced.
The top five finalists for the Player of the Year competition are as follows:
Cameron BoozerMiami, Florida power forward Christopher Columbus, son of Carlos Boozer, is number one in the sophomore class.
Isaiah CollierMarietta, Georgia point guard Wheeler, a 6-foot-2 who currently ranks first overall in the 2023 class and signed with the USC Trojans next season.
Justin EdwardsPhiladelphia, PA small forward Imhotep Charter is a 6’7″ who is 3rd overall in the 2023 class and signed with the Kentucky Wildcats next season.
Ron Hollandthe 6’8″ Duncanville, Texas power forward who is 6th overall in the 2023 class and signed with the Texas Longhorns next season.
DJ WagnerThe 6’2 combo quarterback from Camden, NJ who is 4th overall in the 2023 class and signed with the Kentucky Wildcats next season.
Naismith previously released a list of ten semi-finalists for the Player of the Year award, including five others: Xavier Booker (Michigan) Aaron Bradshaw (Kentucky), Matas Buzelis (G League Ignite) Cooper Flagg (uncommitted) and Dylan Harper (unfinished).
Along with releasing five finalists for Player of the Year, Naismith also announced five finalists for Coach of the Year: Bill Armstrong (Link Academy), Ryan Bernardi (Prolific Prep), Kevin Boyle (Montverde Academy), Glenn Farello (Paul VI Catholic ) and Ty White (John Marshall).
Winners will be announced on Thursday, March 2 for Coach of the Year and Friday, March 3 for Player of the Year.
The first, second and third All-American teams will be named on Wednesday, March 1.
