Naoya Inoue next fight: Former undisputed champion to face Stephen Fulton for unified featherweight titles
Naoya Inoue is gearing up for his next title fight. The long-debated fight with Stephen Fulton Jr. has become official as they face off on Sunday, May 7th in Yokohama, Japan, Top Rank Boxing has announced.
Inoue, who has reached undisputed bantamweight status, will move up to 122 pounds in pursuit of more gold as Fulton puts his WBC and WBC titles on the line in a giant bout.
29-year-old Inoue is considered one of the best fighters in the world. The Japanese bantamweight took everything in his path at 118 pounds, winning all four recognized division titles in three years. Inoue defeated Nonito Donaire in a rematch in 2022 to capture the WBC world title. Their first meeting became an instant classic as Donaire pushed Inoue to the limit and broke his orbital bone in the fight. Inoue then ended the set by stopping Paul Butler in December for the WBO crown.

In the meantime, Fulton has shown nothing short of an impressive feat in his 122-pound title challenge. He made a majority decision against Brandon Figueroa in November 2021, a fight that received acclaim in the fight of the year debate. Fulton followed this up with a unanimous decision victory over Daniel Roman in June 2022.
