Crockett was in the lower rungs of the depth table, but Patrick should have been one of the team’s top three strikeouts this season, so his loss leaves a big hole in offense. K. J. Hamler, Kendall Hinton, Seth Williamsas well as Travis Fulgham some of the underdogs who will apply for extra work in his absence and the team could also make ends meet Albert Okwuegbunam as well as Greg Dulcic to fill the void left by a width of 6 feet 4 inches.

How it all pans out remains to be seen, but head coach Nathaniel Hackett knows someone will have to take the chance presented by Patrick’s injury.

“Flipping through it, obviously very upset [Patrick’s] not here, but here now opportunity for someone step up,” Hackett said via the team’s website. “Especially in the red zone, to be able to score multiple touchdowns, to use different people, that’s what we need to do. And in this area, you always want everyone to cover the entire field. . . and all the good guys. It will be interesting to see who is going to step up. Someone will have to.”

defender Russell WilsonThe arrival in Denver raised expectations for the team’s offense this season. Losing Patrick doesn’t blight them in and of itself, but failing to adequately replace his performance will lower the ceiling for the Broncos.
