  • October 8 vs. Milwaukee Bucks in Abu Dhabi

One thought on the Celtics: Assuming the team can focus and move forward by following Ime Udoka bomb developmentWill the addition of Brogdon and the natural growth of Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown be enough to get them back to the NBA Finals?

Brooklyn Nets

One thought on the web: Kevin Durant is still in Brooklyn, as is Kyrie Irving, so in theory this team must to be among the contenders in the East if they can overcome all this non-stop drama.

Charlotte Hornets

New faces:

  • Mark Williams (Draft No. 15)
  • Bryce McGowans (#40 draft pick)

  • October 11 vs. Milwaukee Bucks

One thought on Bulls: Until Lonzo Ball returns after a long absence due to a torn meniscus that is still undetermined, we will not be able to objectively assess where this team can go.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New faces:

  • Donovan Mitchell (traded from Jazz)
  • Ricky Rubio (free agent)
  • Robin Lopez (free agent)

Preseason Schedule:

  • October 5 Philadelphia 76ers
  • October 10 vs. Philadelphia 76ers
  • October 12 vs. Atlanta Hawks
  • October 14 at Orlando Magic

One thought on the Cavaliers: Darius Garland has paired up with heavily used defensemen in the past with varying levels of success, and how he and Mitchell fall into that spectrum will determine the fate of Cleveland.

New faces:

  • Christian Wood (traded from Rockets)
  • JaVale McGee (free agent)
  • Jayden Hardy (selected #37)
  • Tyler Dorsey (free agent)

  • October 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
  • October 7 vs. Orlando Magic
  • October 14, Utah Jazz

One thought on Mavericks: If Luka Doncic shows up in form and plays like he did at EuroBasket, it could put him at the top of the MVP conversation.

Denver Nuggets

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New faces:

  • Bruce Brown (free agent)
  • Centavius Caldwell-Pope (traded to the Wizards)
  • Ish Smith (traded to Wizards)

  • October 12 vs. Los Angeles Clippers in Ontario, California.
  • October 14, Golden State Warriors

One thought about Nuggets: Jamal Murray is back, Michael Porter Jr is close, and Nikola Jokic has just finished several MVP seasons in a row. Denver looks scary.

Detroit Pistons

New faces:

  • Jaden Ivey (selected #5)
  • Jalen Duren (Draft No. 13)
  • Alec Burks (traded from Knicks)
  • Nerlens Noel (traded from the Knicks)

Preseason Schedule:

  • October 4 at the New York Knicks
  • October 7 at the New Orleans Pelicans

One thought on pistons: There are a lot of young people here to get excited about, and if all goes according to plan, Detroit should move forward with their recovery plan this season.

  • JaMichal Green (free agent)

  • October 2 against the Washington Wizards in Saitama, Japan.
  • October 9 vs. Los Angeles Lakers
  • October 11 vs. Portland Trail Blazers
  • October 14 vs. Denver Nuggets

One thought on warriors: June. This is the answer to any question: was the season successful? Come back in June… Will Steph & Co. like this for the thumb? Back in June… Will the Warriors be the first roster to repeat the tournament since the Warriors? (You know the answer.)

Houston Rockets

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New faces:

  • Jabari Smith Jr. (Draft No. 3)
  • Tari Eason (Draft No. 17)
  • T.T. Washington Jr. (Draft No. 29)
  • Sterling Brown (traded from Mavericks)
  • Trey Burke (traded from Mavericks)

Preseason Schedule:

  • October 2 vs. San Antonio Spurs
  • October 7 vs. Toronto Raptors
  • October 10 at Miami Heat
  • October 14, Indiana Pacers

One thought on Rockets: Jabari Parker may be a threat to the Rockets without the ball, but the question is, can Jalen Green and Kevin Porter get enough ball to him in the right situations for him to succeed?

Indiana Pacers

New faces:

  • Benedict Maturin (Draft No. 6)
  • Andrew Nembhard (Draft No. 31)

  • October 5 at the Charlotte Hornets
  • October 7 at the New York Knicks
  • October 12 at the New York Knicks
  • October 14 vs. Houston Rockets

One thought on the Pacers: Will Miles Turner and/or Buddy Heald be on the team by the start of the regular season?

Los Angeles Clippers

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New faces:

  • John Wall (free agent)
  • Ivica Zubac (contract extension)
  • Robert Covington (contract extension)
  • Moses Brown (free agent)

  • September 30 vs. Raanan Maccabi Raanana in Seattle
  • Oct. 3 vs. Portland Trail Blazers in Seattle
  • October 9 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
  • October 12 against the Denver Nuggets in Ontario, California.

One thought on the Clippers: The return of Kawhi Leonard is a central story for this team, but the impact John Wall could have after more than a year away from the game is certainly no less intriguing.

Los Angeles Lakers

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New faces:

  • Patrick Beverly (traded from Timberwolves via Jazz)
  • Lonnie Walker IV (free agent)

  • October 6 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves in Las Vegas
  • October 9, Golden State Warriors

One thought on the Lakers: There’s no shortage of storylines on the Lakers, but Anthony Davis’ health has the biggest impact. If he stumbles again, it will be another wasted year for LeBron James and the Lakers.

Memphis Grizzlies

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New faces:

  • John Konchar (contract extension)
  • Danny Green (traded from 76ers)
  • Jake LaRavia (Draft No. 19)
  • David Roddy (Draft No. 23)

Preseason Schedule:

  • October 1 at the Milwaukee Bucks
  • October 3 vs. Orlando Magic
  • October 7 vs. Miami Heat
  • October 11 at the Orlando Magic
  • October 13, Detroit Pistons

One thought on Grizzly: Memphis has proven it’s ready to take on the best in a tough Western Conference, but can it build on last season’s success in an even tougher Western Conference?

Miami Heat

Training camp start: Tuesday, September 27

New face:

  • Nikola Jovic (Draft No. 27)

Preseason Schedule:

  • October 4 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
  • October 6, Brooklyn Nets.
  • October 7 at the Memphis Grizzlies
  • October 10 vs. Houston…
