Next year’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament will feature a two-host regional round format with eight teams each playing in Seattle and Greenville, South Carolina.
Each of these venues will host two regional semi-final games on March 24 and two more on March 25. Each venue will host one Regional Championship on March 26 and another on March 27.
In the past, the NCAA Tournament has had four regional venues.
Rick Nixon, NCAA deputy director of media, said the committee announced a possible move to two regional venues in 2019 and named host cities in 2020 in an attempt to keep neutral venues for the regional rounds. The NCAA men’s regional competition remains at four venues.
The NCAA Tournament bracket will be announced on March 12, the same day the men’s tournament announces its teams.

The first four women’s games of the first round will take place on March 15-16 and will be played on the campuses of teams seeded among the top 16. holding the game “First Four”.
Ball State Athletic Director Beth Goetz will be chairman of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball team for the 2022-23 school year. Oregon Associate Director of Athletics Lisa Peterson is Vice Chair and will take over from 2023–24.
“This is such an important time for our sport and the championship,” Goetz said in a statement released by the NCAA. “The committee is committed to continuing to work with the women’s basketball community and staff to ensure we continue to act as stewards of the NCAA Tournament, one of the world’s greatest sporting events.”
Planning for the 2023 championship also included updates on operations, judging, travel, ticketing, branding, broadcast, digital/social media and media. The Committee has received a report on planning for the 2023 Women’s Final Four in Dallas, which will host the second joint games of the Division I, II, and III Women’s National Basketball Championship at the American Airlines Center over the course of two days.
The committee also received an update on the selection process for the women’s Final Four venues, which will culminate in the announcement of the 2027-31 venues in November.
Tickets for the Greenville and Seattle Regionals go on sale October 20th.
