NFL betting: Patrick Mahomes has never lost ATS as underdog, will it happen vs. Bucs?

Patrick Mahomes is in his fifth season as the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. He never lost against the spread as an underdog.

It’s a slightly misleading statistic because the Chiefs were rarely underdogs when Mahomes started. But BetMGM Data analyst John Ewing noted that every time the Chiefs were underdogs with the Mahomes, they covered the spread or pushed every time. Their record is 6-0-1.

This matters because Kansas City was a 1-point underdog on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night.

There are countless statistics showing the greatness of Mahomes, and this is on the list.

That’s seven times via stathead, in which the Chiefs were underdogs with Mahomes (since early 2018, there have been two games that Mahomes missed and the Chiefs were underdogs; both times they failed to cover). This is the first start of his career at the end of the 2017 season:

2017 Week 17: +3 to the Broncos, wins 27–24

2018 Week 1: +3.5 in Chargers, win 38-28

2018 Week 2: +4.5 in Steelers, wins 42–37

2018 Week 6: +3.5 Patriots, 43-40 loss

2018 Week 11: +3 to Rams 54–51 loss (push)

2019 Week 14: +3 Patriots, win 23–16

2020 Week 3: +3.5 at Ravens, win 34-20

It’s a 5-2 record for an underdog, which isn’t bad either.

The Chiefs lost this week to the Buccaneers because their offense hasn’t looked good for the past two weeks, Tampa Bay’s defense has been fantastic at the start of the season, and the Bucks’ offense has brought back some players this week.

But be careful before betting against Mahomes as an NFL underdog. This bet has never won.
