NFL Week 3 grades: Chiefs get a ‘D’ after upset loss to Colts, Cowboys get ‘B+’ after Monday win over Giants

It’s not often you see the Kansas City Chiefs completely fall apart, but that’s exactly what happened Sunday during the team’s shocking 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. There was an offensive blast, a defensive blast, and even a special teams blast, which was arguably the worst of them all.

Offensively, the Colts’ defense seemed to upset Patrick Mahomes, who threw for only 84 yards in the first half. As Mahomes headed to the dressing room at half-time, his frustration seemed to boil over. The Chiefs quarterback fell out with offensive coordinator Eric Biniemi, who decided to let the clock expire at the end of the half instead of trying to hit the field goal area, even though the Chiefs only needed about 25 yards to hit. hit.

Despite a tough day on offense, the Chiefs still had a chance to take that game to overtime, but those chances vanished when Mahomes intercepted Kansas City’s last offensive play of the game.

The only thing that was uglier than Kansas City’s offensive play in this game was their special teams play. In what can only be described as a disaster, the special teams division actually cost Kansas City the game. A terrible special teams game began in the first quarter when Skyler Moore missed a punt that gave the Colts possession at the Kansas City 4-yard line.

The Colts would score a touchdown three plays after a punt miss to go 7-0 ahead. As if that wasn’t enough, kicker Matt Ammendola missed both an extra point and a field goal, which obviously cost the game dearly, in which the Chiefs lost by just three points. The missed field goal was scored from just 34 yards away.

The Chiefs’ field goal team also competed in one of the oddest challenges of the day. As Kansas City ran into 4th and 11th, the Chiefs lined up for a 42-yard field goal, but Ammendola was never able to throw because Andy Reed STATED FAKE and it ended badly.

Between the fake field goal, the missed field goal, and the extra point forfeited, that’s seven points the Chiefs have left on the field. The Chiefs defense also made a costly mistake, and we’ll talk about that later in our weekly assessments.

Alright, let’s jump into the scores for each game from week 3. If you want to learn more about the Browns’ 29-17 win over the Steelers on Thursday, be sure to click here.
