NFL Week 4 Power Rankings: Eagles soar to No. 1 spot with Dolphins right behind; Jaguars leap into top 10

To all those who had the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins as their last two undefeated teams after three weeks, please stand up.

Okay, so maybe there are a few of you. But there can’t be many who had such an express.

However, three weeks later, the 3-0 Eagles and Dolphins are at the top of my power rating, with the Eagles in first place and the Dolphins just behind them in second place. The Eagles did impress, beating three mediocre teams to take first place, but Miami beat two good teams: the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills.

The Eagles are looking like the best team right now, with a scoring offense and defense that can really pounce on a passer. On Sunday, the Dolphins didn’t do much offensively to beat the Bills, but they found a way with a late touchdown and then held on to win.

Miami coach Mike McDaniel’s team won one game with a lot of offense, another with good defense, and another with a combination of the two. The Eagles were the NFL’s best offense in the past three weeks, with Jalen Hurts playing at the MVP level. The reason the Eagles rank higher than the Miami is because they started higher and I think if they had met on neutral ground the Eagles would have won it.

Both teams will play tough games this week. Miami travels to Cincinnati to play the Bengals for a short week, while the Eagles host the Jacksonville Jaguars, who pulled off a dominant road victory over the Chargers on Sunday.

The Jaguars lead the rankings this week, climbing from 22nd to 9th after a 38-10 win over the Chargers. Yes, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert came beaten up, but that beating was much worse.

If Jacksonville beats the Eagles this week, when coach Doug Pederson returns to Philadelphia to face the team he won the Super Bowl with three years ago, they’ll be in the top five next week.

Does anyone see what’s coming?

Of course not. That is why it is so difficult to calculate this league from year to year. Just look at the two remaining undefeated teams.

Jalen Herts led this team to the start with a score of 3:0. His ability to run and pass makes defending against this attack a real challenge. This week, defending the Jaguars will be a challenge.

Dolphins

With the score 3:0, they got off to a great start. The offense didn’t help the Bills much, but the defense made many key stops. They’re going to have a tough game this Thursday in Cincinnati for a short week.

Injuries are becoming a problem for this team, especially on defense. Talk of a Super Bowl trip has died down for at least a week as they head to Baltimore to face a good Ravens team.

They still don’t do much offensively, but that will happen once Aaron Rodgers gets comfortable with his receivers. The defense impressed by beating Tampa Bay.

Chiefs

The game’s playthrough hasn’t been as good in the last few weeks, which is worrying. Now they’re heading to Tampa to play a Losing Bucks team. It won’t be easy.

Buccaneers

There are too many injured players on offense, so much so that Tom Brady can’t even bail them out. The defense played well in three games, but now they’ve got Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

They are 2-1 but they didn’t play like the team we saw last year. They look to be turned off with just a click here and there.

Lamar Jackson has been special this season, but he has to be special because of his defense. He showed himself back to his MVP level, perhaps even better.

Jaguars

Over the past two weeks, the Jaguars have given notice that they may be ahead of schedule. They may be bad on defense and improve on offense, but this week the Eagles will be the real test.

They looked terrible as they lost to the Jaguars, dominating both sides of the ball. Injuries are now a serious concern for this team.

They looked lifeless at the start of the game against the Lions but revived late to win and get to 2-1. The offense still doesn’t click like it will.

The rush game resulted in a victory over the Steelers, which is what we expect. But Jacoby Brisset made a lot of well-timed shots.

Going 2-1 with Dak Prescott through injury is good for this team. Cooper Rush played well in his place. Good defense helped.
