Due to absences, injuries and inefficiency due to COVID-19, 2021-2022 regular season games saw a record 119 goaltenders, from Akira Schmid to Zach Fukale. As a result, the number of goals scored in the NHL has reached its highest level in almost 30 years.

The 2022-23 NHL regular season should offer a little more normality as far as who looks after the teams’ draw. But if we know something about goalkeepers, what looks like this on paper may look completely different on ice.
