With the Stanley Cup, notorious health freak Nathan McKinnon’s attention seems to have shifted to making the most of his team’s victory.
So when Greg Wishinsky of ESPN asked the star forward about knocking out the reigning Stanley Cup champions and what it would mean for Colorado if they did the same, McKinnon had one thought.
“I might get fat as shit right now, so I don’t know if we’ll go back to back.” He said. “But I’ll definitely enjoy it.”
The Avalanche superstar is known for his insane season-to-season health habits and the strict regimen he allegedly follows for his teammates.
Rumors that McKinnon is an iron fist on carbs circulated last year when former teammate Nikita Zadorov shared with a Russian news outlet the high intensity McKinnon brings to the Avalanche dressing room.
The internet, of course, saw its opportunity and jumped headfirst into pumping out hilarious McKinnon health memes that later popped up in the Nova Scotia native Cole Harbor. shared that he really liked at media day last fall.
McKinnon would keep defending too and promised reporters that he was “not crazy”, but now it seems a bit difficult to argue with that. After all, not many Stanley Cup winners think about a calorie deficit while drinking champagne.
With that said, when you rise to the highest peak in hockey, leading your team with 13 goals and 11 assists on the way to it, you earn yourself a cheat meal or a hundred.
