When a Notre Dame sophomore runs away logan digs tore his upper lip in a spring game last April, it was assumed that at least his first month of the 2022 regular season was over. Fast forward a few months to the start of fall camp, and while there’s no guarantee that won’t be the case, Marcus Freeman isn’t sure Diggs won’t be able to attend the Labor Day weekend opening in Ohio State.
Freeman spoke Friday after the first practice of fall camp and discussed who would be unavailable at the opening. He mentioned wide receiver Joe Wilkinshard end Mitchell Evansand running back Jadarian Price but did not mention Diggs.
“Now there is progress for some of the guys who are coming back. We can’t just go (from) zero and put 100 of them there. So we have some guys with a limited number of repetitions. Apparently, Logan Diggs and Marist Lufau are doing some limit reps today. But for the most part, those three other guys that we know will go to the first game. And then we expect those other guys who might have limited reps today to be ready to go.” — Markus Freeman
This is by no means a guarantee, of course, but at least gives a little hope that Notre Dame won’t enter the Horseshoe in a little less than a month from today with only Chris Tyree, Audric Estim and Gi’Bran Payne. as their only one. scholarships available.
If you look at how Ohio State lost its two games last year, it was due to a high dose of opponents playing something that Notre Dame would find hard to use in hopes of dealing with an upset.
