UFC Vegas 59 has definitely started… confusingly.
Starting all night of action inside UFC APEX, bantamweights Maira Bueno Silva and Stephanie Egger were both looking to keep their names in the win column.
Just outside the gate, both women found themselves entangled in the tarpaulins against the fence. Grasping her arm, Bueno Silva latched on to the deep arm, released a submission hold, and exclaimed that her opponent tapped. A visibly confused referee asked Egger if she had really tapped, but was met with only silence, much to the confusion of the watching fans.
Approaching the cage of the viewing table, the referee questioned the judges before receiving audible confirmation from one of them that they had witnessed Egger tapping.
Below is how their fellow fighters reacted to the confusion.

Guilty. Obviously, she knocked, otherwise she would have jumped up and continued to fight!

The alternative was to break her arm and put her out for a year. Mira did the right thing. https://t.co/o9Zhe9f6u8
