The Ohio State football program is still putting the finishing touches on the class of 2023 and weaving the fabric of the class of 2024, but on Friday it tied the first stitch of the class of 2025.

Atlanta product and quarterback Jonate Gilbert announced his commitment to Ohio State on his Twitter account to start the recruiting cycle. It’s still too early for Gilbert to make any rankings, but the Buckeyes hit the 6-foot, 1-inch, 175-pound fighter early and should like what they see.

Gilbert has offers from Arkansas, Buffalo, Florida A&M, and Georgia Tech, and you’re almost counting on his fame and class ranking to rise after the news that OSU holds him in high regard. You can also bet that other programs will try to nudge Gilbert over time, so Ohio State will have to make sure they stay in touch with that much time before it can formally sign the dotted line.

Let’s hope the positive recruiting news can be a ray of sunshine for some OSU fans frustrated by some high-profile recruiting losses lately.
