Penn State may not be as well known for their defensive prowess, but they’re starting to bring out some talent. The next face of the position should be Jalen Reid.

Jalen Reed was a freshman for the Nittany Lions last year, but he was able to play in eight games. He never saw a ton of meaningful shots, but he did get to play some big games like Ohio State and the bowl game against Arkansas.

This year he has a chance to be the safety star on the team for the new defensive coordinator. Manny Diaz. Diaz has produced several NFL safety stars in his career in Texas and Miami, and Pennsylvania should be no exception.

Mind you check out Jaquan Brisker there is a hole in the position that Reed must fill.

As mentioned, Reed is in the driver’s seat to lead this group. Manny Diaz has already praised Reed’s performances in spring training and in the Blue and White game. All that is left for him is to take control of the position as training continues and he will be fine. It’s a huge compliment for him that he’s holding this position so early in his college career, and Penn State fans should be thrilled with his potential.
