Wolchak didn’t play in any games for Penn State last season, so there are no official statistics on his true rookie season at Happy Valley.

Depth Chart Overview

One of Penn State’s biggest offseason defensive questions is who will take over at linebacker after losing two NFL starters a year earlier. Curtis Jacobs returned to the starting XI and took one of the places, and Jonathan Sutherland this year switched positions from defender to linebacker.

The competition for another starting position seems to come down to Coby King and Tyler Elsdon, both of whom have encouraging spring training to build on. Linebacker depth may be a fair question for Penn State, but the best backup options could be Charlie Katshire and Jamari Buddin, and redshirt freshman Dominic DeLuca has the most notable play in the blue-and-white game.

As for Valchak, he appears to be a deep reserve who may not expect much playing time in 2022. Perhaps he could make a special contribution to the team as he continues to develop moving forward.
