There is a much needed clarification: Peter Schrager of the NFL Network retracted his previous report. that former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton gave the team a “pep talk” ahead of their victory over the Las Vegas Raiders a few weeks ago, apologizing from his official Twitter account.
“Misinterpreted it” Schrager wrote“Peyton was in town that week; did not contact the team. I’ll take it and eat it.”
What caused this turnaround? Alvin Camara publicly asked Schrager who fed him misinformation about the team’s supposed meeting with Payton. If anyone knew this, it was Kamara, the team captain and face of the franchise. Schrager quickly responded by saying that he “Made a mistake on this“, and promises to admit it:
So this aligns with what was previously reported by local media that said Payton was meeting up with friends at the Saints facility while in town on other business (he was also seen sitting on the court at a New Orleans Pelicans game). However, someone misinformed Schrager about the whole affair. What’s even more troubling is that the Saints have been playing for 3-7 years this year, and that’s exactly the sort of rumor that’s swirling around them. They need to start winning games and quiet the noise.
